My Story
Dr. Ruby Ben has over 30 years of experience in customer service and leadership and management. She cared for patients for a large portion of that time and decided that there was a need to help in the development of other leaders. Dr. Ben has a love for people and helping them be the best they can be at any age. Dr. Ben is employed at Baptist Health Springhill in North Little Rock. She has served in many roles during her employment of almost 30 years. She has worked as bedside nurse, nurse manager, special project manager and was recently promoted to Director of Nursing Clinical Quality. During the pandemic, she worked at many Covid vaccine clinics across the state of Arkansas and even managed two Covid units. Dr. Ben is a graduate of Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree and later obtained a Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from Walden University. Dr. Ben is fortunate to have been formally trained in Lean Six Sigma obtaining a certification as a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma which is one of the highest certifications in process improvement. She uses these skills to train others and improve and standardize processes in her organization.
Having a heart for service, it is not surprising that Dr. Ben is a life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Her sorority was one of the first places where her love for giving back flourished. She also charted the Alpha Alpha Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in Saline County. The initial love for serving others came from her grandparents. They would always help others and did not meet a stranger. Dr. Ben Joined the Junior League of North Little Rock over 10 years ago and has continually given back to the city of North Little Rock. Dr. Ben served as President of the Junior League of North Little Rock from 2019 - 2021 and during her time in leadership led the League in being named the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce 2020 Non-Profit Organization of the Year. Dr. Ben continually looks for ways to serve the community. Dr. Ben was also a former Board Member of the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts.
Dr. Ben goes back to her hometown of Cotton Plant Arkansas and volunteers her time holding an annual health fair. Dr. Ben is also a certified life coach and offers her services to women and men encouraging them and letting them know that it is never too late to reinvent yourself. She believes that we should always strive to be the best version of ourselves. Dr. Ben is the author of 3 books, Dr. Ruby’s Tuesday Gems, Motivation Over Failure, and her latest book, a children's book, titled What is a Servant Leader?. In 2020, Dr. Ben began a YouTube Channel and Facebook page called Dr. Ruby’s Tuesday, where she drops gems for today’s leader. Her gems include basic leadership skills, motivation, and self-care. Dr. Ben does this through sharing her life experiences.
She has been married for over twenty-two years to her husband, Andra, who is a native of North Little Rock. They have four children Missy, Carnesha, AJ and Jenny, who she loves dearly. She is also a proud member of New Hope Baptist Church located in the Glenview community of North Little Rock. Dr. Ben believes that it does not matter how successful you get or what titles you may obtain, if you don’t give back to your community, your success means nothing.
