Little Rock, Ark. — A group of Arkansans supporting podcasting in the state is announcing the creation of the Arkansas Podcast Collaborative (APC). The nonprofit’s mission is to provide resources for those interested in launching a podcast or who have a podcast and are seeking guidance on growing its audience.

The APC, created by Little-Rock based podcast producer Karen Tricot Steward and digital content developer Ti King, is launching a website with training materials and a database of Arkansas podcasters at arkansaspodcasters.org. It will also host an annual podcast festival called ARKAST and produce the ARKAST podcast, which will showcase podcasters in the state and industry experts year-round.

“We started the ARKAST podcast convention last year to gauge interest in holding an annual event on podcasting,” said Ti King, a co-founder of the APC. “We had a great response and hosted panels featuring Arkansas podcasters. We also provided workshops for those wanting to learn more about podcasting.”

The APC will be hosting this year’s annual podcast festival at the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub in North Little Rock on Sept. 7, 2023. The festival will also be expanding into Northwest Arkansas, with details set to be released in the next few weeks.

“Many people have an idea for a podcast and just need some help getting it off the ground. Ultimately, we want to create a diverse community of podcasters in Arkansas, so we’re here to help everyone with the basics of getting up and running,” said Karen Tricot Steward, co-founder of the APC.

The APC’s Board of Directors includes professionals from public broadcasting, the Arkansas Press Association, the former director of L.A. Times Studios, and members with experience in education and nonprofits.

“The importance of collaboration in the podcast industry cannot be overstated,” said Steward.

“It’s an exciting time to be podcasting in Arkansas, especially with the expansions and renovations happening at the Little Rock Technology Park and the Central Arkansas Library System, which both plan to include podcasting studios in their new facilities,” said King.
